350 m and
a vineyard
in the wood.

A century-old farmhouse on the south-facing slope. Monferrato marlstone, nights that stay cool even in summer, hand harvest, spontaneous fermentation. We do little in the cellar. Even less in the vineyard.

The vineyards, Grazzano Badoglio

Tenuta Magrini is a wine estate founded in 2022 in Grazzano Badoglio, Monferrato. We converted the vineyards to sustainable farming and gained organic certification in order to make a wine of quality, because the way we see it, it all starts with looking after the land.

The estate sits in an old farmhouse on the slope of a south-facing hill at 350 metres, sheltered by a wood. The vines are all around it in one unbroken block. The temperature range is sharp, the wind steady, the nights cool even in summer. The wines that come from here are taut, with the vintage written inside.

Our farming is regenerative too: we work so that the soil is more alive each year. No herbicides since 2021, when we began treating the soil under organic protocol; formal ICEA certification in 2023. Cover crops between the rows, green manure and compost in place of synthetic fertiliser, and the wood behind the vines left where it is, as a biodiversity reserve. The harvest is always by hand and the wines ferment spontaneously with indigenous yeasts only.

  • — Sustainable and regenerative farming
  • — ICEA certified organic
  • — No herbicides since 2021, cover crops and green manure
  • — Hand-harvested, always
  • — Spontaneous fermentation, indigenous yeasts
  • — Lightweight bottles, recyclable Nomacorc Green closures
  • — Vineyard management supported by XFarm

Grazzano Badoglio,
Monferrato, Piedmont.

We sit at 350 metres, south-facing, with the wood behind us and the vines in one unbroken block around the farmhouse. The temperature range is sharp, the wind steady. The rest is done by cool nights and patience.

The soil is calcareous marl. The vineyards sit on Langhian formations, between 15.97 and 13.82 million years old: marl and sandstone sequences, the floor of a sea that is no longer here. Now and then, hoeing, a seashell turns up.

Every vintage is a different story. That is the only reason it's worth doing again.

Get in touch.

A wine is understood where it is born: between the land and the people who tend it. The cellar is not open to visitors yet — we are working on it. In the meantime write to us: about the wines, a question, anything.
